Course Overview
Level 1
6 Days.
Course Fee £2,100* Includes full kit.
Level 1 — Learn to Work Properly
Level 1 is where you learn to work properly as a makeup artist.
From the first day, you’ll be working hands-on — not watching demonstrations, but learning through doing, observation, and correction.
The focus is on building control, consistency, and clear working methods. You’ll learn how to approach the face with intention, rather than instinct.
You’ll cover:
Preparing the skin properly and understanding what you’re looking at
Building a clean, believable base with accurate colour matching
Developing structure through brows, eyes, and balanced placement
Understanding how light, texture, and finish affect the result
Planning your work using face charts, and following that plan through
Just as importantly, you’ll learn how to work with people:
How to consult properly and build trust quickly
How to interpret what a client is actually asking for
How to make decisions and explain them clearly
Towards the end of the course, you’ll respond to a professional brief — planning, executing, and presenting a complete look without step-by-step instruction.
This is where everything comes together: technique, judgement, and communication.
By the end of Level 1, you will:
Work in a structured, professional way
Produce a clean, camera-ready result
Make decisions with intention, not guesswork
Understand how to approach a brief and justify your choices.
Level 2
12 Days.
Course Fee £3,250* Includes full kit.
Level 2 — Developing Professional Practice
Level 2 builds on the foundations of Level 1 and moves you into a more professional working standard.
The focus shifts from learning how to do makeup to applying it with greater speed, control, and consistency — working within time constraints and responding to different types of briefs.
You’ll refine your technique rather than starting again, learning how to adjust, correct, and improve your work under pressure.
You’ll cover:
Advanced skin preparation and product layering for durability and finish
More controlled eye and lip work, with precision and clean structure
Understanding the difference between editorial and commercial beauty
Adapting your work for photography, lighting, and real-world viewing
Basic hair techniques to support and complete a look
Bridal makeup and hair, with a focus on longevity, comfort, and client expectations
Extending your work beyond the face, including upper body application
You’ll also begin to think about your work as a complete image — linking face, hair, and body into a cohesive result.
Towards the end of the course, you’ll produce a small body of portfolio work, documenting your makeup clearly and professionally.
Just as importantly, you’ll be expected to explain your decisions — why you chose certain products, placements, and finishes, and how they relate to the brief.
By the end of Level 2, you will:
Work with greater speed, control, and consistency
Adapt your approach to different professional contexts
Refine and correct your work without starting from scratch
Produce cohesive, camera-ready results across face and body
Present and justify your work with clarity and confidence
Level 3
18 Days.
Course Fee £4,750* Includes full kit.
Level 3 — Advanced Practice & Portfolio Development
Level 3 is where you begin working independently — applying everything you’ve learned to a professional standard across film, television, and editorial contexts.
The focus is on decision-making, integration, and consistency. You’ll move beyond following guidance and start designing, executing, and refining your own work with clarity and control.
You’ll deepen your technical understanding while working across a wider range of contexts, including camera-led beauty, historically informed looks, and more conceptual or editorial work.
You’ll cover:
Advanced skin work for camera, with a focus on realism, texture, and durability
Structural makeup based on proportion, light, and facial architecture
Interpreting and applying historically informed looks with accuracy and context
Integrating hair, wigs, and makeup into a cohesive result
Working with different hair types and understanding appropriate handling and preparation
Translating briefs into clear, practical decisions
Managing time, pressure, and changes within a working environment
You’ll also begin designing your own work more independently — developing ideas, refining them through rehearsal, and executing them to a consistent standard.
The final stage of the course focuses on producing a small body of portfolio work, supported by professional photography and structured critique.
You’ll be expected to present and justify your work clearly, demonstrating not just what you’ve done, but why you’ve done it.
By the end of Level 3, you will:
Work independently with confidence and control
Design and execute complete looks across different contexts
Integrate makeup, hair, and wigs into a cohesive result
Adapt your work to camera, brief, and environment
Produce and present portfolio work to a professional standard
